France vs Gibraltar – Preview

France vs Gibraltar – 24th January (20:00 CET) – Hall of Sports Charles Erhman, Nice – Group A

After last night’s 10-2 defeat to Montenegro, Gibraltar tonight face group leaders, and hosts France, knowing that realistically, the French will likely win the match.  However, both the first and last 10 minutes against Montenegro proved that they can handle themselves respectably at this level, and will hope for a closer encounter than San Marino managed, who lost 12-0 to France last night

Gib team news:

No fresh injury concerns, although Joseph Chipolina may be pushing for a start after scoring Gib’s first ever UEFA goal.  Perez should remain in goal after impressing despite the result.

Opposition Manager:

Pierre Jacky has a long history in both futsal and football.  After a steady amateur career, he went on to work in roles at both the Saint Pierre and Miquelon and Comoros national football teams, as well as Racing Strasbourg and FC Strasbourg Koenigshofen 06.  He joined France Futsal as an assistant coach, and took the reigns in 2004 as manager.

Opposition Dangerman: Parfait Mendy.  After scoring a hat-trick vs San Marino, Mendy will be hoping for another ‘parfait’ performance to live up to his name, and give the French fans a treat.
