Gibraltar Futsal gave a respectable account of themselves as they went down 6-2 to France.
Despite the obvious gulf in quality and experience between the two nations, Gibraltar gave the French a competitive game, having the score at 3-2 and 4-3 in the first half. Gibraltar’s goals came from Daniel Duarte and Joseph Chipolina, who got his second goal in as many games.
The French, who drop to second on goal difference thanks to the narrow margin of their victory, as well as Montenegro’s 11-0 beating of San Marino, scored via goals from Teixeira (2), Otmani, Sao, Le Boette and Belhaj.
Gib’s next game is on Saturday, against bottom place San Marino. This game represents a very realistic chance for Gibraltar to earn a maiden victory, and if they put in a similar performance to tonight, then they have a very good chance of doing so.
