Gibraltar accepted as UEFA’s 54th member

At today’s XXXVII UEFA Ordinary Congress, Gibraltar were voted in as the organisations 54th full member.

The vote, taken by the 53 other member associations, saw such a majority that voted against Gibraltar, or abstained votes didn’t need to be counted to know that Gibraltar were accepted.

The news makes today the biggest day in the 118 year history of the Gibraltar Football Association, and marks the beginning of an exciting journey for football on the Rock.

And welcome to the European, and hopefully soon to the FIFA family!

  2. Surely the GFA will be applying for FIFA membership? Otherwise what do they do when the next World Cup qualifyers come around? Sit around idle?

  3. Congratulations from Portugal! Your close friend =) Hope we can play a friendly in The Rock asap =)
