Gibraltar national midfielder Liam Walker has completed his transfer to nPower League 1 side Portsmouth FC.
Liam, who had been on trial at Portsmouth since impressing in Gibraltar’s 4-0 thrashing of Pompey in July, finally completed his transfer after Portsmouth were given the go ahead to sign players on a month by month basis.
The month by month contract is a low risk contract for Portsmouth, as a player doesn’t have to be given a contract extension at the end of each month, but given Pompey’s precarious financial statement at the moment, it is understandable. However, if Liam keeps up the form of his pre-season, where he consistently impressed, and scored against AFC Wimbledon, he need not worry about whether he’ll see his contract at the English club carry on.
Liam will most likely be involved in Portsmouth’s opening nPower League 1 fixture against south-coast rivals Bournemouth (4pm kick off Gibraltarian time).
