GFA deny spitting allegations; unnamed player banned for 6 months

After an investigation following allegations of Gib players spitting during the International Challenge Shield final vs Jersey, the GFA have stated that these allegations are “untrue”.

Despite the strong accusations on the matter, the GFA have stated that after reviewing video evidence (presumably the camera footage from GBC’s coverage of the match) that said allegations were not true.

An unnamed player, however, has been banned from the national team for six months for his behaviour, and also banned from the next International Challenge Shield, should Gib take part in it. The GFA have kept the anonymity of the player in question despite a request from the Jersey FA to know the identity of the suspended player.

Gibraltar take on Portsmouth on Friday at 8pm local time (7pm British time). Tickets may be available on the day, but if possibly try buying in advance. Numerous posters around town state the shops where tickets can be purchased.
