Comfortable wins for Jersey and Gibraltar set up interesting Saturday evening final

Gibraltar will host Jersey in the inaugural International Challenge Shield, after they both won their semi finals, 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.

The first game, between Jersey and Guernsey, consisted of two sides using developmental squads, but goals from Craig Russell (2) and Jack Boyle ensured a comfortable win for Jersey, who were the underdogs with the UK bookies.

In the second game, favourites Gibraltar pleased the home crowd, as goals from Roy Chipolina and George Cabrera lead Gib to a 2-0 win over the Isle of Man. A late sending off for Gib slightly tarred the win, but regardless it was another strong victory for Allen Bula’s team.

Saturday’s schedule is as follows:
4pm: Guernsey vs Isle of Man (3rd/4th place playoff)
8pm: Gibraltar vs Jersey (final)

Note* I couldn’t make it to the two matches today, hence the lack of a detailed match report for either match. Should be able to make Saturday’s matches though.
