Brief news – Portsmouth over in July? UEFA application going along quietly

The only new, noteworthy piece of news for football in Gibraltar this month is the possibility of Portsmouth coming over for a friendly in July.

The soon to be nPower League 1 side are in a poor financial state, which has contributed to their downfall recently, although it is believed that like previous friendlies, the GFA will be covering the costs for the travelling side to come over and play.

As far as progress to obtaining UEFA membership goes, progress seems to have been quietly steady. Presumably most of the work will be done behind the scenes and out of the local media eye before the May 2013 UEFA congress in London.

Domestically, the 2 senior leagues and the reserve leagues are wrapped up in terms of champions and relegation. Lincoln OSG, Lynx FC and Lincoln OSG Reserves have their respective leagues sown up, whilst SJ Athletic Corinthians will be relegated from the Premier Division.
