As previously rumoured on the blog on the 17th January, the GFA have confirmed a home friendly against the Faroe Islands.
A statement on the GFA website reads “The Gibraltar national squad will be playing a friendly game against the Faroe Islands on Friday 11th March, Kick Off at 7pm.
Faroe Islands are a member of FIFA since 1988 and they are the toughest opponent for our national team.
Tickets are available at Petit Cafe (Ocean Village Promenade), Victoria Stadium Sports Bar and GFA Premises Mondays & Fridays 6-7pm.Tickets priced at £10. Free entry for Under 15’s and Pensioners.”
The Faroe Islands will prove a big step up in competition from the likes of Estepona and Linense, and it is likely that they will ask too much of the Selection on the field. Nevertheless, this should be a great experience for the players, and very good practice for the Island Games in the Isle of Wight this summer.
