In a repeat of last season’s encounter, Lincoln beat St Josephs in the Pepe Reyes Cup (equivalent of Community Shield), the final score being 4-2 to Lincoln, who were debuting their new Adidas home kits.
Both teams experimented with youngsters, and it worked for both sides, as each team had a debuting player scoring, Lee Ferrary for St Josephs and Mikey Yome for Lincoln.
St Josephs did pull back level twice, but goals from Lee Muscat, Roy Chipolina, Mikey Yome, and an own goal, were too much for St Josephs, who equalised twice to make it 1-1 and 2-2 with goals from Juan Luis and Lee Ferrary.
The win signals perhaps another season of domination by Lincoln, but one that may put more emphasis on bringing through youth, which is promising.
The attendance was about 100, not too bad really.
In other games, Pegasus also beat Lions by the same score of 4-2 in the second division, mere weeks after losing 7-1 to Lions in a pre-season friendly.
